The Book That Holds a Mirror Up to Its Readers – No Filters. No Excuses.

What if the book that changes your life starts by daring you not to read it?

DON’T READ THIS YOU MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING! ESPECIALLY ABOUT YOURSELF by Jerry Goodwin doesn’t play by the rules. It’s not interested in giving you comfort. It’s not here to sell you hope wrapped in feel-good quotes. It’s here to hand you a mirror—no filters, no apologies, just the raw truth.

At first glance, you might think this book is a casual conversation starter about Love, Respect, Greed, and Power. But don’t let the symbols fool you. What lies beneath is a deep, unapologetic examination of human nature. With biting wit and brutal honesty, Goodwin explores the ego, pride, temptation, social conditioning, emotional blind spots, and the choices we pretend we don’t make.

This isn’t your typical “find your purpose” read. It’s more like your purpose finding you in the middle of a sentence that punches you in the gut.

From calling out selfishness as the root of societal decay to exposing the silent grip of addiction to approval, Jerry doesn’t shy away from taboo or discomfort. He makes you laugh, cringe, nod, and squirm—sometimes all in one paragraph.

The book journeys through themes that are universal: the emotional chaos of love, the hunger for respect, the deceptive thrill of power, and the slippery slope of greed. It doesn’t ask who you pretend to be. It asks who you are when nobody's watching. And the way it’s written? You’ll feel like the author is sitting right there with you, raising an eyebrow and waiting for your answer.

This isn’t some motivational fluff. It’s a challenge to grow up, wise up, and face the parts of yourself you’d rather scroll past.

Meet the Author: Jerry Goodwin

Jerry Goodwin was born in Little Rock, Arkansas, in 1951—but his story really began on the streets of Chicago, where he grew up from 1952 to 1969. After heading south for college in Atlanta, Georgia, Jerry didn’t just follow the path. He made one.

He spent years working for AT&T before stepping into his true calling—education. For over four decades, Jerry served as a counselor and history teacher, guiding students through more than just textbooks. He coached sports for 30 years, shaped minds in classrooms, and lent his voice to those who didn’t yet know how to speak for themselves. His impact didn’t come from a podium—it came from presence, consistency, and heart.

A self-proclaimed introvert with the soul of a straight-shooter, Jerry never cared for fancy titles or surface-level talk. What he did care about was helping people—especially those struggling with purpose, self-worth, or the weight of the world on their shoulders.

This book? It’s not just pages and ink. It’s his legacy. A message to anyone who’s ever doubted themselves, stumbled in the dark, or wondered if they had what it takes. His answer is clear: You do. But only if you never give up.

DON’T READ THIS YOU MIGHT LEARN SOMETHING! is his way of reaching beyond the classroom walls—offering the same no-nonsense guidance he gave students for 40 years, now available to anyone who’s brave enough to look inward and ask: What am I really made of?

So… Should You Read It?

Honestly? Only if you’re ready to think differently. To laugh, reflect, maybe feel a little exposed—and then want to get better. This isn’t about pretending to be perfect. It’s about learning who you are, and owning it.

Because at the end of the day, if you’re not learning about yourself… who is?
