Jonathan Lang—an industry leader in geopolitical risk consulting working at the nexus of international business, politics and trade for multiple presidential administrations, including as director for international economic affairs at the White House National Economic Council and National Security Council during President Trump’s first term—joined APCO in Washington, D.C., as senior director and head of economic security policy.
In this role, Lang will further scale APCO’s global public affairs capability with a focus on advisory services around global economic security, trade, export controls, supply chains and industrial strategy.
“Jon brings a wealth of experience in international economic affairs and trade policy, making him an invaluable addition to our team,” APCO North America President Kelly Williamson said. “His expertise will enhance our ability to provide strategic insights and solutions to our clients, helping them navigate the evolving landscape of economic security. We are excited to welcome Jon and look forward to the contributions he will make.”
Prior to joining APCO, Lang served as practice head for Trade and Supply Chains at Eurasia Group, where he advised Fortune 100 C-Suite clients on global supply chain trends and supported corporate efforts to diversify markets and reshore opportunities. Lang has provided corporate strategy and advice to a diverse range of clients in the financial, industrial, technology, semiconductor, automotive, aviation, retail, international infrastructure, freight logistics and medical device sectors. Lang works closely with clients in asset management, global government affairs, supply chain operations and corporate strategy spaces.
Lang is frequently cited in or provides live commentary on topics including trade policy, export controls, U.S.-China relations and global supply chains for print and on-air media outlets including CNN, the BBC, Politico, the Financial Times and others.
“APCO's commitment to innovative solutions and its global reach provide a unique platform to address the complex global challenges of economic security that corporations face today,” Lang said. “I look forward to collaborating with the talented team at APCO to drive the development of new geopolitical risk and economic security advisory services and to develop more impactful and comprehensive strategies for our clients.”
