NEW YORK - August 19, 2025 - Task Force Antal (TFA), a Special Operations veteran-run non-profit, today announced that it will send a specialized medical team to Ukraine this summer to introduce Stellate Ganglion Block (SGB) treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The minimally invasive treatment has brought rapid relief to countless U.S. combat Veterans and will now be available to Ukrainian Soldiers and civilians in need of hope and healing.
“PTSD is a serious, but often invisible injury of war,” explained Mark Antal, Founder of TFA. “Sufferers experience symptoms like anxiety and nightmares, along with physiological effects that impair normal functioning. We believe that soldiers and civilians who desperately need relief should not have to fight that battle alone. By bringing SGB to Ukraine, we aim to give our allies a real path toward recovery.
SGB treatment involves a simple, 10-minute ultrasound-guided procedure that resets the body’s fight-or-flight response to bring relief from trauma symptoms within minutes. To deliver SGB in Ukraine, TFA is partnering with Dr. James Lynch, a former Army Officer and graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and former physician to TFA’s Founders and a leading expert in SGB therapy for combat-stressed Special Operations veterans.
During this pilot mission, TFA’s team will train Ukrainian physicians in SGB techniques, establish the framework for regional treatment centers, and directly treat a select group of patients. TFA is actively raising $80,000 to secure the medical equipment and supplies required to make the mission possible and ensure Ukrainian doctors are prepared to continue this work long after the U.S. team returns.
“Our country is deeply grateful when Americans come here—not just with words, but with their skills, their hands, and their hearts,” said Eugenia, TFA’s Ukrainian teammate who has been working alongside TFA’s Founders for more than ten years. “Their presence shows us that we are not forgotten, and that our fight for freedom is shared.”
This mission is part of TFA’s broader program, which combines the Founders’ expertise in crisis management in contested conflict zones to bring humanitarian aid, primarily in the form of basic first aid training, to vulnerable civilians in Ukraine. Since 2022, TFA has trained over 25,000 Ukrainian civilians, provided over 25,000 individual first aid kits (IFAKs), and facilitated the delivery of over $16 million in supplies.
